My name is Wendy and I trained to be a teacher, but I got so desperate trying to find a teaching job that I'm ready to give up and go work as a legal secretary. I think the most awesome thing would be if I could get a job in education law such as helping LGBTQ kids and kids with disabilities get their rights recognized. My older son John, ACerulean, is being tested this week to determine if he's on the spectrum. He's sure that the rest of us show enough symptoms to get diagnosed, but because of my cheap insurance I doubt that will happen. I like anime, fashion history, sewing, and watching terrible teen comedies from the 80s at night with my kids. I'm working as a substitute teacher and taking night classes in paralegal studies at a community college.

Welcome to Wrong Planet! You are among many others I have known who have teaching certificates, but who do not teach for a variety of reasons. The most frequent reason that I have heard is that they disapprove of the current teaching environment. They usually cite the inability to speak freely in class and the lack of effective discipline. Too, I have heard some complaints about the low educational standards.
