Hi!

I'm Alex, 20, I'm from Australia... And I have Asperger's.

I was diagnosed at the age of two or three, and that was it: no follow-up visits to the specialist, no recommendations, no program. My mum read up on Asperger's and ASD in general, and created a program for me so I could learn to socialise and play with kids. It worked; I pass as a normal kid, just one who's shy and tired. (I have ME, Fibromyalgia, Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and more!) I'm in my final year of Year 12; it's taken three years, but hopefully, come December, I'll be graduating officially, on stage! :) So that's exciting. Also terrifying, but I know I won't be so ill when I'm less stressed. (Feel free to ask questions about my illnesses. It's been over a decade, so I'm used to it!)

I used to love playing netball, violin, and painting/drawing, especially abstract art. I had to give that up years back, so now I try to use music as an outlet; I love The Killers, Oasis, Franz Ferdinand, Beady Eye, Brandon Flowers, and more, but at the moment I'm really into Franz Ferdinand. I watch a lot of DVDs whenever I can't study, so I marathon 'Doctor Who' and 'Torchwood' often, and I also have some of 'Skins' (UK) and 'The OC' on DVD. I like crime tv shows, so the 'Law & Order' series, 'Criminal Minds' and 'NCIS'. (Both versions. But I hate CSI for some reason!) The tenth Doctor is my favourite Doctor. Always will be. :D

I guess I joined because I read about this site somewhere, and it stuck in my head. I don't really know of any IRL Asperger's support groups, and I probably am too sick to attend, anyway; yay for wifi! I guess I'm also hoping for tips for coping at uni, making friends, and transitioning from high school to uni. (I really hope to get into an Arts degree at a really good uni, then do a Juris Doctor.) :)

Um, I'm new here, so I hope I did this intro right! Sorry if it's too long...
