Evening, guys. Just thought I'd pop into this forum to introduce myself. I 'm a diagnosed Aspie and, well, I just got tired of communicating solely with NTs. To be quite overly dramatic, I guess I want to be around 'my own kind'. So, with that in mind, I signed up here, great to meet anyone who pops there head in :P.

Erm, some other basic info? I'm 18, male, originally from London but now live up in the Shetland Islands in Scotland. I'm an avid PC gamer, I love to read, write (poems and fiction) watch films, eat and admire the fairer sex ;).

Welcome to WP. I hope you like it here.

The Shetland Islands eh? It's a bit far from anywhere isn't it - what are you doing up there? Or is that part of the appeal? :)

Hah, while how quiet it is has its charms, I'm actually up here as I moved with my parents for the sake of my sisters' education (schools weren't exactly great where I was from). Apart from the fact that I can't understand a word that anyone says and I don't have any friends, it's working out alright, got a job and uni, via video conferencing.

Are you living in Lerwick or outside it? :)

Wow, what a move to make though - it must be about as far away from London you can get and still remain in the UK!

That isn't peculiar to the Shetland Islands though by any means. ;)

What's the Internet like up there? I'd imagine it to be pretty slow comparable to most of the rest of the UK all things considered?

I'm living on a secondary island, Whalsay, I can understand what people say on the mainland, but on this island, nope :P And, my internet is actually about as good as anyone elses, luckily and ultra fast fibre-optic stuff is beign rolled out here, as we speak.

I'm told it sounds like a mixture of Norwegian and Scottish, the Shetland accent (due to being closer to Norway than to London). Would you mind elaborating on Shetland accents a little? Might be quite interesting.

Excellent! Do you how how fast your Internet connection will be once they've finished? :)

Shetland accents sound fairly normally Scottish in the populated areas, but in areas like mine it is based off of an old norse dialect, other shetlanders have difficulty understanding them
