It's done to post an introduction, an't it? Hello. Hm. I'm female, undiagnosed, high-functioning, maybe shadow. Sometimes I think I'm just stretching, calling myself Aspie. Then other times I wonder how I mix with the humans at all. It's times like that I remember why I think I am and why I looked so long to see what was different. I wear earbuds to keep from having to hear grocery store music. I trained myself to memorize my favorite music well enough to use it to force the songs from my head if they got there. I walk around looking just past everyone, I almost never make eye contact. But it's conscious. I used to try to force myself to get used to it, figuring it was merely a confidence problem. Then I read about AS... some time after that I decided I wasn't looking at people anymore. It's like I can still see them looking at me even when they've walked away, and I spend ages wondering what the look meant. A lot of Aspies have face blindness... is there such a thing as hypersensitivity to faces? It's not that I remember them so well, but still, they're there.

And I do that color thing, assign colors to words, numbers, and letters. But I dunno if that's AS. It's just fun. 8O

Hi and welcome to WP.
If you find the colours always 'default' to the same ones all the
time then it's Synesthesia - not unique to AS but quite common as
a side effect. It's harmless and as you say can even be fun and
helpful in remembering phone nos etc.
On the subject of eye contact,I was always conscious of this but
before I knew about AS,my mind was telling me it must be impolite
to always look at others when communicating. Now I know the real
reason and try to make an effort to look (but not stare ! )

I guessed she might be from North America due to the spellings she used in her original post.

Hope you like posting here, and don't forget to join the Church of Garlic. If you want your pain to go away and be part of something greater than yourself just bite into a raw clove of Garlic tonight. And for a donation of $19.95 the Chruch of Garlic will send a leather bound copy of the Book of Garlic.

Please make checks payable to:

TheMachine1 and One-Winged-Angel Defence fund (these funds will greatly help our current fake charity charges the Church of Garlic now faces, Thanks for your support)

All you have to do is go to your local market and buy a bulb of garlic. Peel it and eat
a raw clove. Then report back here and confess your faith in Garlic. Then to secure your
place in the after life you must convert one more brother to Garlic's holy path of
health and enlightenment*

*throw the mustard in a trash can also.

If you join, help win the war that is being fought in the "The Church of Mustard" topic in the random discussion forum.

Church of the Perpetually Seared Sinuses maybe... Church of the Rabid Heartburn. Garlic. Hm.

Not irish, I just play a tin whistle, or pennywhistle, also known as an irish whistle and musical torture device, in the hands of some, me included.

It is Synesthesia that I have, I have always had certain colors associated with each letter and number, whole words, names, people, sensations. I think I have the midlest form, though, rather than finding my knee tickles when I eat turkey or something like that.
