Hello everyone. My name is Ashley and I'm posting in this forum because I am new here and thought it was appropriate to introduce myself. I've not been diagnosed with Asperger's, however I've taken the Asperger's Quotient test online and scored a 42 which put me in the range. A friend of mine is actually who got me thinking that I should look into Asperger's. We were talking about different things that bother us and she said it sounded like I could be autistic. It would make sense seeing as I've been known as being the "weird" girl my entire life. Also, my nickname around my house is "Sheldon" like from the Big Bang Theory because apparently we share a lot of similarities, according to my parents.
I actually found this site through a google search. Yesterday I had to place a phone call which made me feel really anxious. I've always hated calling people on the phone and so I wondered if other people shared this with me. Lo and behold, the first result in my google search provided me a link to a discussion about others who dislike talking on the phone. I spent a while lurking on the forum and for the first time, I felt like I actually belonged somewhere. It makes me happy that so many other people share the same "quirks" that I do and it makes me feel a lot less lonely. I'm really happy to have found a place where I can share things and have people actually understand where I'm coming from.
A little about myself: I am 20 years old. I am currently in college and I am majoring in Astronomy/Astrophysics and Biology. I would love to study how life would evolve on other planets. I also love birds and have three pet parakeets. Their names are Jasper, Blue, and Galileo. I really like reading and my favorite book series is Harry Potter. I also enjoy reading Sherlock Holmes, Lord of the Rings, and books about birds, space, and anything else that contains information. I love learning about the world - especially geology and in the environment. My favorite food is watermelon even though I'm allergic to it (It makes my throat itch). I really love camping because I'm away from the town I live in which has a lot of people and am surrounded by trees and things I like instead. When camping, I love going fishing and kayaking. I love Disney movies, my favorite one is Pocahontas. I can't stand the feeling of heat or wind (Which is unfortunate because it gets both hot and windy where I live..) nor do I like loud noises.
There's a lot more I could say about myself but I feel this would go on for a long time if I said everything. I really look forward to getting to know some people on here, especially if they share the same interests as I do.
And this concludes my long-winded hello.
