Hi!

I'm Feline, 29 year old woman from Finland. I don't have a diagnosis, but I'm pretty stereotypical AS (+ maybe a little ADD?).

I'm having severe problems with social situations (notice, I didn't say I'm suffering of them, because I'm not the one who suffers from my weirdly wired behaviour, it is the others, NT:s who suffer), and that's why I now joined this forum. To be with peers. IRL I don't know any AS, except from my parents (I selfdiagnosed them). I also suspect that my nerdy pianoteacher may be from the same planet as I am from. Maybe I'll ask him someday...

Ok, well, now I have to start working. I'm here in the office sitting with my earplugs because I'm bothered by the radio NT:s want to listen the WHOLE DAY. I''ll add some information about me and my so called specialities here later on.

I'm not sure how much I'm gonna write to general topics, because I'm a bit perfectionist and as English is not my mothertongue, I get annoyded if I don't get the grammar right (... guess how many times I'm gonna edit this post because of every faul I happen to notice... And despite of all corrections, I still suck )...

And don't you feel offended if I don't react, because ... mmm... I'm feeling kind of confused, maybe it's language barrier or I'm just being AS. Sunno what to say...

Oh it's a cultural barrier! I figured it out.

I'm from chicago and there's lots of people here from all over the world here. Plus I've been to two universities for undergrad and a third university now for grad school so there's people from all over the world in universities.

So when you meet someone from a European country you could play a joke on american's percieved cultural ignorance and a little joke on yourself and imply you're a 'stoner' by saying, "isn't that the country where weed is legal?" And it doesn't matter what country it is as long as it's in europe (i.e. relatively close to that country where you can smoke pot).
