Hey there,
I’m new here and just dropping in to say hi! I think this site is great and has helped me a lot already. I can really relate to everybody's struggles. Well done Alex!

I’m in my 40’s and cope reasonably well so I guess I’ve slipped through the net like so many from my generation and never had any support growing up. Seems I’m at the high functioning end of things but anxiety and social phobia have long been a concern for me.

My psychologist although not an expert in this field has made a thorough assessment and feels that AS would go a long way to explaining the concerns I’m having and the way things were for me growing up (tough socially). That’s probably all the diagnosing I need for now.

My partner and I are both struggling a bit with this – I’d love to hear how others have coped with the diagnosis. Was it hard to accept? Where does the road lead from here?

Also – what resources are there – what would you suggest for adults to get help with AS issues?

I've accepted my diagnosis a long time ago, and I constantly strive to improve myself. Not that I'd try to hide it, either. Could be an ego issue. Oh well.

i'm 56 and was never diagnosed. my nephew was diagnosed. i read about asperger's then and found it described me.

went through some relationship and career struggles. things are good now, though. married. same job for four years.

I got depressed when I got diagnosed - I guess a lot of people do and also a lot of people feel relieved and even happy.

I was diagnosed in my 20s and am 35 now.

It can be hard to get a diagnosis when you have a partner because it also sort of includes them as well. Forums like this one help. I am not sure if you want real-life help? Because there are autism associations around the country.
