Hello everyone.

I've never really fit in on this planet and have thought I have asperger's since the moment I found out about the condition as a kid, but don't have the resources (aka no money and am scared to death to tell my parents my suspicions) Anyway I'm 22 now and trying to make a place for me in this world though it's a lot harder than I ever thought it would be so its really nice to find a site like this where I can share my experiences and get a little advice if need be.

Wycca, Welcome to WrongPlanet,

That's really interesting that you've thought you had Asperger's ever since you first heard about it as a kid. By the time I first heard about it, I was already an adult.

Why are you so scared to tell your parents? I was originally afraid to tell my parents mostly because I was worried that it would make them feel guilty (for not noticing things, for letting certain things happen, for pushing me in life, etc.) and I guess I was also a bit worried they would think I was being a hypochondriac or something.. but I was all too right about my suspicions. In the end, telling them was one of the best things I ever did. It took time for it sink in, and for them to do a bit of reading on the topic and to consider things - but then it all fell into place. They did (and do) still feel a bit bad regarding my past, but they also have some reasons to feel good too.

It's nice to meet you.

Thanks for the welcome guys!

To be honest the reason I haven't told them about it before is because my dad doesn't believe in psycologists or mental disorders in general. Trust me when I say he was more than a little mad when he found out my mom was taking anxciety medication. If I told him about this I'm worried he'll blow up on my like he's done when I've had meltdowns in the past and just make things worse.

and it's kinda funny because my special interest is medicine so reading through internet articles and books was how I stumbled across the condition in the first place. Through now I'm discovering that maybe retail pharmacy technician propably isn't the best job for an aspie with short term memory issues.
