Ok, I have no clue what neurotypical means and some of the other terminology, however, I suffer from social anxiety and have no friends at age 41. My therapist recently hinted at Aspergers, giving me two examples, probably knowing I would jump and research it when I got home, which I did. So, I will be discussing it with him Monday. I am a definitely quirky. I have funky hair, love science, am intelligent, strange sense of humor, but I really tone it down with people so I do not offend. I love animals, play piano, love music, all science, technology, writing, art, movies, television, sc-fi, etc. I'm emotionally sensitive and am very aware of other peoples' body language and eye contact. This makes social situations awkward for me because I am also TOO aware of my own and find myself wondering how long I should look at someone and such. I always feel that people are uncomfortable speaking to me even when I feel I am being friendly and trying hard to seem normal. I even play dumb in an effort to fit in by not expressing my interests and knowledge. *shrug*

I've read that with Aspergers, one does not show empathy towards others. This is not the case with me. I'm quite the opposite. Other peoples' problems can really upset me.
Also, I don't know if I really display any repetitive behaviors except for obsessive thoughts.

So, the question is, do I have Aspergers or don't I? Guess I will be finding out. hehehe.

8O <-- love that face

P.S. I'm female and am married with 2 kids

Greetings and welcome to the Wrong Planet.
Please feel free to be yourself here. There are lots of Aspies that show empathy even if it’s not a common trait. Just remember if you met one Aspie you met one Aspie.

Cheers.
