Hi,
I stumbled across this site as I was looking for more resources and hoping to connect w/ other caregivers who do the same work that I do.
My focus is Social/Life skills development for Children/Teens and Young adults w/ ASD & Aspergers in Ottawa Canada. I work privately for several families in their homes or at the school where they attend.
In Canada, there does not seem to be an official designation for my position. Mainly I consult w/ therapists on a weekly or monthly basis and then implement the activities w/ my clients. My current goal is create a social network in Ottawa for teens and young adults. Many parents find that once their kid reaches a certain age, there are less and less programs and if they outgrow the education system they lose a peer group. I am trying to connect them w/ like minded teens through the guise of social and life skills camps. So ya....thats why i'm here. To connect w/ you all and get a little inspiration and maybe pass a little on as well.
En Pax
John
