Hi. I'm Chris, 25 years old, and like the title says, I like birds a lot. From hooded merganser to black capped chickadee (not a fan of the shoebill, feel free to ask why).

I have been diagnosed with Aspergers twice. I'm not really sure what to say about it past that? I figured it would be nice to finally join a community of people who are in a sort of similar boat as me, as far as communication goes. (As a side note, I've also been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and ADD).

So aside from birds, I'm attending PNCA in Portland, but am currently taking the semester off to work on a game project after it being successfully funded via kickstarter. So that takes up most of my time these days.

I'm a fan of comics (mostly X-Factor and some Nightwing atm), Doctor Who, horror games, and Neil Gaiman. Currently I'm reading Sirens of Titan, which is really great so far.

(Also, I want to point out that I usually go by gender-neutral pronouns [they/them/etc], but didn't see an "Other" option for the gender drop down in profiles. Just thought I should say.)

Seriously, though. I'm fascinated by the intelligence of black crows. I took this picture from my 2nd floor window. The bird was sitting on a high wire.

Crow intelligence is amazing, especially in New Caledonian Crows. They're actually the only animals in the world aside from human beings that make hook-like tools. They do that to get to food. Also, they improve/upgrade existing tools in their crow community, and are the only animals who aren't primates to do that. There's some videos of all this if you look them up on youtube.

If you like particularly intelligent birds (who are also corvids), you might also like scrub jays if you're not already a fan. They can remember 200 hiding places for the food they hide and store, how fast the food decays, and the category of food it is.

I remember my late father used to be a commercial cook in Alaska, and one day a crow waddled into the kitchen with a porcupine quill stuck in its beak, preventing it from eating or anything else, and somehow it knew that humans could help it- my dad took a pair of pliars and the bird let him place it onto a tabletop where my dad pliared the quill out of the crow's beak. from the point on, the crow was bonded with him and the other kitchen workers and eventually became a pe[s]t.

@auntblabby Wow, that's amazing. I haven't heard a bird story like that before. Good thing the quill was taken out safely. I wonder if the crow had been imprinted on people at some when they were still in their baby feathers, considering they knew people could help.

Someday, probably not in our lifetime, Google and the internet will become sophisticated enough that if we write, or say, "hooded merganser", a video of them would pop up automatically. Only a matter of time. (Yes, I had to look up hooded merganser because I'd forgotten what it was).

I just typed a massive wall of words.......and deleted because it's just too much monologue!

But suffice to say, I kind of do my own study project on the behaviors of a particular group of waterbirds resident nearby me, a bit like the meerkat researchers in the Kalahari. I hope to publish something someday.

I also have made some crow friends there and nothing would surprise me about their extraordinary intelligence.

I love pigeons! Their cheeky little faces and big personalities! Big Geeze is adorable.

I feed some ferals that I've actually come to know by sight and they me. One is so tame he eats from my hand. They all have different personalities and are so endearing, friendly and smart. I wish I could own a rescue pigeon someday.

I am mad about birds too, have done since age 3. I love Owls the most (the name Ninox refers to a genus of Owls) but I am interested particularly in the supposedly extinct Laughing Owl that once haunted my home land of New Zealand (last confirmed sighting was in 1914). There are still unconfirmed reports coming in but nothing solid, I do have a good idea what this bird sounded like as many eye witnesses (or ear witnesses in this case) compared it to the call of the Mottled Petrel which I have heard with my own ears - and believe me the sound Mottled Petrels make is weird (a sort of wild giggling sound).

I love birds as well. They are like angels and make a better world with their marvelous presence and singing. I believe birds and all other animals had the power of speech in the Garden of Eden, but lost it since they were cast out of the Garden of Eden because of the betrayal of Leviathan the ancient serpent, which was actually the ancestor of all dragons, that's why Leviathan is called the great dragon, it's because he is the father of all dragons, and Rahab is the female counterpart of Leviathan, together Leviathan and Rahab filled the deep of the ocean with millions of dragons and they're waiting till the end of time to get out of the ocean and to rule the whole earth ( and maybe the whole universe ) for a short time before Jesus and His Father and their armies of resurrected saints and angels come on earth to establish their Kingdom as it is in Heaven.
I believe dragons are real, and unicorns are real as well, from what I read from the Scriptures. I believe the trees will literary clap their hands and sing with great joy when Jesus and His Father save the earth from the evil one and his minions, because trees have souls too. I believe birds and all other respectful animals, and plants and trees, will receive eternal life as well just as saved humans, because death was never planned by the Lord, and He created all creatures to live forever...

So to all people who lost their loving pets, you will live forever with them in Heaven after the death of your physical body, and after your future resurrection in the millenium and in the new earth...
They would be able to literary have long and passionate conversations with their loving pets in Heaven, in the millenium, and in the new earth, because the Lord will give back the power of speech to all creatures, even trees and plants would have back their power of speech ! Isn't that amazing to be able to talk to every creature in the future ?

Am I crazy to believe all of that ? I was already told " You are crazy " for believing in all this stuff and in much more, but I don't care.
I prefer being " crazy " than being " normal ".
If I was " normal ", life wouldn't make any sense to me and it would be waaaaaayyy too boring ! !! !! ! Wouldn't it ?

That's funny, I just remember the man who told me " You are crazy " was a Greek called Chris ! Ha ha ha, surely the Lord has an incommensurate sense of humor !
