Hello My name is Debbie. I have a cousin, nephew and son with Asperger's. I am not officially diagnosed, but am in the process of being evaluated. I am also Bipolar. My son was diagnosed with PDD when he was four-years-old. He is now 24, and has recently been reevaluated and diagnosed with Asperger's. I have always been aware of the great many characteristics Jonah and I share, and I have often wondered whether some of my own difficulties could have a similar explanation. During Jonah's reevaluation process, I realized the huge number of Asperger's diagnostic criteria that do fit me. My own evaluation seems like a simple formality. To me, trying to navigate social situations has always been like trying to walk across a mine field. Life would have been unbearably lonely if I had not met my husband Mike. By the way, he also has a huge number of Asperger characteristics. Maybe that is at least partly why we have gotten on so well together. The quirkiness that others have sidestepped is something that we appreciate and enjoy in one another.
