Hi Anonymousanonymous, KraftieKortie and cathylynn
I don't really have any special interests in the stereotypical aspie/autistic way, but I do fixate on bizzare things and get temporarily but intensely obsessed with them.
For example, I spent some time looking at the way court judges, barristers etc dress.
At school, I remember being obsessed with vomit, and asking loads of people when they were last sick and what colour was it, all really seriously curious.
There's loads more fixations but I can't think of any of the top of my head.
Oh, I used to get obsessed with certain teachers, or members of the opposite sex.
I remember asking loads of school friends if they had duvets or blankets on their bed, and what colours they were.
As an adult I've managed to calm it down a bit, but I still get fixated on certain things, like other people's double glazing, etc, I just don't voice it as readily as I did as a child.
I was a late walker but I think I learnt to talk at the normal time.
I used to wrap bottles in blankets, the way you would wrap a baby in a blanket, and hold it the same way.
So, I guess you could say, that these are special interests, just, not in the stereotypical way.
I was definitely, 'different', my mum said she had concerns about me but got fobbed off by the doctor when she took me to see him at about 3yrs of age.
