I’m going through quite a rough patch at the moment, and decided to join the forums here in search of a few likeminded people.

I’m 17, female and living in England. I’ve been diagnosed as Autistic Spectrum for a year or two, and spend almost all of my time in my bedroom. My biggest fear is leaving the house, mainly due to sensory problems, which I’m receiving support for from guide dogs for the blind, amongst other difficulties. Despite being confined to my room, I’m never ‘bored’, and I enjoy occupying myself with my violin, various little projects, art, reading, studying and various bits of science to fill in the gaps. =]

Anyway, this site looks very interesting, so I hope to talk to a few of you soon.

8O So fast!

Thank you both :]

This place looks amazing, Kaleido. I'm so relieved to find that there's a place for people to communicate like this, I was really beginning to feel that I was the only AS person on the planet.

You will probably start seeing other people with AS springing up everywhere now; I found several close friends had either traits for were diagnosed with Asperger's. It is a relief isn't it :)

I definitely see traits of it in people everywhere :] I like to ask why people behave the way they do, aside from finding it interesting it's also useful. The only problem is often I find that while I have quite a good understanding of my friends, they do not have a very accurate understanding of me. This is why I'm so glad to find wrongplanet, perhaps a few people here might genuinely understand back. :D

Welcome MarchViolets,

It is a shock to find thousands just like yourself. I thought I was the only one for sixty years.

Now I have a tribe.

Thanks guys =]

I'm sorry to hear it took so long for you to find this place, Inventor, it makes me wonder how many people are out there, thinking they're alone. The thought of a little tribe of aspies is quite nice though, reassuring. =]

Welcome MarchViolets! Glad to meet you!

Hopefully, after an initial 'break-in' period, getting out of your room will become easier for you. My sister has autism. She earned a PhD in psychology, now is head of the psychology department at one of Nashville's universities. I have Asperger's, now a pharmacist/ massage therapist/ self-taught artist. My brother is on the spectrum, he's a glass sculptor, landscaper, physical trainer, massage therapist, and additionally a physical therapist student. All of us rarely left the house at your age. Here's wishing you the best, and I hope you make lots of friends here! Be patient with yourself! :)
