Hi, I'm Ruth, 63 years old. I feel really awkward talking to people but writing is good. I'm married for 40 years, no children, which is probably a good thing. We made a major change in our lives five years ago when we both lost our jobs that we had for 30 years. We moved from the Midwest to Arizona. Employment is ok here, we are thankful to have jobs. I work as a bookkeeper, so mostly with numbers and not too much interaction with people. But I still haven't adjusted to living here. I'm good at faking a brief chit-chat conversation. So except for my husband, no one here knows I'm an Aspie. Thanks to whoever reads this. #lostintheazdesert

Welcome to the forum.

I've found that WrongPlanet has been a wonderful escape from that feeling of having to "fake chit-chat" out in the "real world". It's one of the most positive things I have done since discovering my diagnosis. Hope you find the same!

We live in the White Mountains a mile high. It's kind of the best of both worlds. If we want warm weather in winter, we can drive a few hours to the desert, if we want it cold, we can drive up to the ski resort at 10,000 feet. It is said that AZ is the only state where you can snow ski and water ski on the same day. I don't do either of those, but I do snowshoeing and kayaking. Thanks for writing.
