So, I've been accessing the Wrong Planet IRC channel for the last couple of days. I find it very exciting because IRC is one of my interests and I've only recently realized this channel existed.

I was wondering: do the people who post here often also chat there? Or is that a completely different crowd?

I'm from the southeast, São Paulo.

An amazingly large city--larger than New York. Nice climate; occasionally gets cool during evenings during July/August.

Is it difficult adjusting to all the hustle and bustle of Sao Paulo?

You write English so well. Brazilian Portuguese would be difficult for me--unless I actually lived in Brazil for a couple of years.

Oh, thanks! I've learned English as a child, so I'm pretty used to it by now. If you have the opportunity to learn Portuguese, do it. I'm biased, but I think it's a beautiful language. One of the few romance languages I enjoy.

And I'm not actually from São Paulo City, I meant São Paulo State. Sorry about that! I'm from a town called Barretos. I used to live in another big city, though, but in another state (Belo Horizonte, in Minas Gerais). It was mostly ok. But I deal better with smaller, quieter places.

Belo Horizonte has a nice climate.

I think it gets colder there than even in Porto Alegre, which is further south.

Unfortunately not. Porto Alegre is really hot in the summer, but in the winter the weather can drop to 5 degrees or less, whereas in Belo Horizonte the weather tends to remain in the 15-20 range. The coolest I've experienced in BH was 12ºC. Very disappointing!
