Hello everyone, I'm new and the site suggested that I introduce myself. I was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder, since it's impossible to be diagnosed with aspergers in the U.S. as of 2013 I think, thanks to the DSM V. I'm 23 now, and I enjoy watersports, music, and fighting. I don't think that you should use fighting to solve your problems or anything, but I think it's really fun to do in a safe and friendly way, and I've found that it helps to socialize with people, since the rules are far simpler than regular social interaction. I also enjoy helping people, but I don't do it because it's the right thing, or because I particularly like people, (Mostly I think people are kind of untrustworthy) I just like doing it. It's like a hobby or a whim. If life were a freeroam rpg, that's the way I play it, because I think it's more interesting to do so. I have an obsession with nerd culture, which includes manga and anime, video games, comic books, cartoons, and sci-fi and fantasy in general. Right now, I'm working on restoring a sailboat so that I can sail and travel to my hearts content and live on it for a while.

When it comes to my experience with A.S.D., I've found my life difficult. I was diagnosed later in life, and I've experienced obsessive behavior, sensory overload, meltdowns, self-harm, emotional ambiguity (Feelings kind of just feel like hot and cold in my chest) and trouble connecting to people all my life. Now that I've been diagnosed, a lot more of my problems make sense and I'm always actively working to do better for it.

I don't really have many friends at all, and the ones I do have I only see once or twice a year. I'm mostly isolated because it's very difficult for me to connect with people. I think that's the part of autism that's probably the worst for me. I'd like to change that. I guess that's what drew me to this site.
