I'm 57 and biologically female, but don't feel I have a gender. I once described myself to a friend as being a 10-year-old boy. I'd rather be outside looking at bugs than playing with girly toys.
I haven't gone through the full extended autism testing session, but talked to a psychologist who confirmed my opinion that I'm autistic. She recommended I not go through the full testing process unless I need to do so to claim disability benefits, or come across another reason that would make it necessary.
The psychologist suggested I look for my home world in online communities because I prefer an isolated life.
I'm employed full time as a technical writer and am a few years from retirement. I work in the computer tech industry and have zero interest in it. So far, I've been able to tolerate it, but the closer I get to retirement, the more I want out. Luckily, I mostly work from home, and with the Covid-19 virus, all of us work from home full time and I don't think I'll need to return to the office until 2021.
My interests lie in the realm of aquariums, paludariums, vivariums, terrariums. I guess I like the "iums!"
I also enjoy experimenting with different living styles. I practice minimalism and am nearing the end of a "no-buy" year in which I've only been buying necessities. Last December, I added an experiment of discontinuing eating any form of added sweetener, and in February I unplugged my TV. I returned to watching YouTube after I decided I miss the educational benefits too much. I enjoy documentaries and lectures and am currently watching a Stanford course on behavioral biology.
