Hello everyone, I was just made aware of this site the other day, and think it's great from what I've seen! This is a good place for people with AS to get together and talk about, well, just about anything.
Anyhow, my name's James Fabiano, I am 28 and from Edison, NJ. I am currently a librarian at the Rahway Public Library. I got my Masters in Library and Info. Sciences from Rutgers College in 2003. I live at home with my mom, dad, siblings, and I would be remiss if I didn't mention my tabby cat Brutus
I have a VERY eclectic list of interests (which sometimes does make me feel misunderstood or incapable of being understood, as I worry not everyone will "get" everything about me). I enjoy reading, writing sometimes, bike riding or anything that lets me appreciate a nice day outside, and travelling...especially when I can come back with a load of pictures! I am also a Catholic and do get concerned how strong with my faith I am.
I love music, especially a lot of stuff from the 1950s-80s and many female singers of those decades. In particular, I love the "Britgirl" singers of the 1960s...as you can tell from my avatar, this refers to the likes of Dusty Springfield (a MAGACIAN with music if there ever was one!), as well as Petula Clark, Lulu, Marianne Faithfull, and Barb Jungr (who I don't think started in the '60s, but she's another great person!) That's not to say I don't have many North American-based favorites too...like Anne Murray, Crystal Gayle, Peggy Lee, and Nancy Sinatra.
I prefer the music of past decades A LOT to most of the current stuff. Sadly, it seems that for the most part, music has since lost its heart and soul. Actually, I feel like that about much of today's entertainment. I am also very choosy about TV programs I like, and usually settle again for older stuff. I don't even go near the networks for the most part (except maybe for Fox's Animation Domination on Sundays). It gets frustrating cause it seems that the good stuff is what ends up not lasting. Anyhow, other than that, I LOVE Britcoms, and I also watch real-life medical shows (like on TLC), some of the Travel Channel and Food Network, and Adult Swim and Toonami (mostly Justice League Unlimited) on Cartoon Network. I am not a big moviegoer, as I tend to only like things that interest me or that feature someone I'm a fan of. I've gotten into the more classic movies as of late, particularly Jean Harlow films.
My other interests include Transformers, Masters of the Universe, classic video games, pro wrestling (mostly the '80s stuff now, or the independent promotions...I have little use for WWE now), and comics and super heroes. As you can gather, the pleasant memories of my past inspire me a great deal and make me feel good. It can be a blessing and a curse though, as that also reminds me how things have changed, but not necessarily for the better.
Well nice to be here, I hope I'll get to talk to a lot of you. If you've got any more questions about myself, just let me know!
J.
