Hello. I think it's a rational response to the world we live in. At least online there is the barrier of digitization and written language of our expressions. We don't have to look at each others faces. While that can help reduce reactions to angry words, it can also lead to misunderstandings. Hopefully my response to your post will not illicit misunderstandings or bad feeling, as, perhaps it is not the expected response. I would not know what the expected response to be, to what to me is an unexpected introduction to yourself. I feel though it does allow me the freedom to respond in a manner which is (inconclusive).

edit: (inconclusive) meaning I failed to find the precise words to finish the sentence. I felt able to experiment a little in my written response.

Hi!

Welcome.

Disappointed and angry: all you need to do is specify the reason.

(If you want to do it; otherwise, that's fine.)

Welcome! It is tough to discover you have a target on your back. At least you know why.

I figured out why I have smart Italian friends. They weren't white enough when they grew up.
One older guy constantly looked out for me when I encountered discrimination.

Oh well!
There are at least 7 million Italians from Africa and beyond, and indeed, their skin is dark.
In almost every city, if you come, you'll hear any language spoken by any ethnic group.
So much so that you ask yourself: what country am I from?

Sorry, I didn't understand the sentence about skin :)
§
I'll make a revelation to you: Italians don't exist.
We are a collection of regions, some bordering other nations: France, Austria, Slavic...
§
Anyway, I'm glad they defended you at the right time.
It's never happened to me, and I live here; in fact, it's the other way around.
