Hi! I’m newly diagnosed. Level 1. I’m currently overwhelmed with this news. It’s a lot to process 51 years through this lens. I thought the diagnosis would give me a sense of validation, relief and understanding, but I feel as alone as ever. I hope to feel accepted and understood here. I hope to learn from you all!

It is hard to process an autism diagnosis because it varies so much from one person to another.

Welcome! Like anything, the diagnosis is what you make of it. Initially it made me feel worse about myself, but with time it has helped me to not be so hard on myself and to slowly gain some self awareness.

Welcome to WP! I hope you find it worth frequenting.

I got my formal Autism diagnosis a few days before my 65]th birthday. It took awhile for me to realize the diagnosis did not change me, I was the same person as before...except I knew more about myself.

But I am glad I got the diagnosis! It explains why everyone else is like they are. :roll:
