My counselor steered me towards this site the other day so I thought I'd check it out. This is actually pretty cool meeting lots of other people with AS and other forms of autism.

So anyways, my name's Joseph, but I frequently use my username Bashe when on the internet. If you ever see that name and it's not a part of someone's real name, it's probably me.

I was diagnosed with AS a few months ago, but I wasn't surprised by it at all, really...I had the signs of AS long before, and my parents and I noticed them as I was growing up, so the diagnosis was really just a confirmation that there was something wrong and I just wasn't being a xenophobe.

I can't really say my case of AS is very severe. I am quite proficient at what I want and need to be, I can speak just fine, and I have a group of friends, and an even larger group of internet friends, some of which also have AS as well. I just don't accel socially, as many Asperger's people do, so...yeah.

I'm definitely a fan of heavy metal. Ever since I first hear and Iron Maiden song in 2005, I was hooked on the stuff, and it's just grown and grown. I guess you could say that's my little obsession that some Aspies have. I find it to be a great passion, but sometimes I feel as if it's greatly narrowed my music taste a little too much...but oh well.

I hope to have a good time in this community, especially people who know what it's like to have AS and that I can truly connect with.
