hi. my name is karen, i'm new and i don't know if i really belong here or not...i only came because i promised i would. from what i can tell, i may have come to the right place....
i really have a hard time meeting new people, in real life or online. and when i do make friends, i can't seem to keep them. i'm not really good at opening up about myself, and find this all a little strange. normally i never post on any forums, usually just kinda lurk in the shadows....(this is difficult for me to admit...and i'm not really comfortable with it all yet...) i know one person here, but we aren't speaking right now, but he told me i might be able to find people i could relate to here, and though i am not diagnosed with anything, i don't really feel normal either, and i have yet to really find out where i fit into this world.
so, i'm here. let the games begin....
and maybe, just maybe, i might make some friends.
(y'all seem pretty harmless from what i've read....)

i COULD tell you a little about myself....but.....then i'd hafta kill ya....just kidding.
actually, when i read what you had started, i'm like...whoa...does this person know me or something? becaus i do draw, paint, write, sorry, no doctorate...i like a lot of things. and i want to be a lot of things....i really enjoy music, and play several instruments, though not recently and not very well. lol. i'm just starting to figure out how to enjoy life again...i feel like i have been missing out on a lot of things, and just want to be happy again. i like watching movies (just got back into watching them...we have satellite so i get all the good stuff...ummm...i like to write poetry and songs....i like reading...i read a LOT of books, loved the harry potter, stuff by terry brooks, hp lovecraft, neil gaiman, the bronte sisters and my favourite of all time is gone with the wind...i love stuff about the civil war and that era...ummm...what else do you want to know? oh. i am currently unemployed, but still looking...i enjoy making crafts, and tried starting up my own business, but...well, i just never got enough motivation to go anywhere with it, but i'm still trying. (i do paint personalized christmas balls, if anyone is interested in buying any...lol just pm me and we can talk....)
oh yeah. and i'd love to join the circus....but alas...i kinda grew up too fast....

I know what you mean about not feeling like you fit in. I am frequently telling a friend of mine that I feel like a stranger in my own country. My friends are few as well. Don't know what you are? Me neither! I'm learning that it's a lifetime endeavor and if I never find out who I am-well----then I've had quite an adventure in the pursuit. Don't sweat it; you're fine just the way you are.

What a well rounded person you are. A long step from Harry Potter to the Bronte Sisters, and I am from one of the Stars and Bars families. The historic period was not good, but the writing was great, no little war was going to sway Miss Scarlet, she had her own agenda.

I know the business problem, many false starts, still some bad weeks, I sell on ebay, printing, books and art prints. once it got going, it feeds it's self. When I think of what I did to get there, way underpaid, and what I do now, makes up for it.

Coming here is like joining the circus. A world where everything is different, and the same. A world without limits, and always another sideshow.

I have a product line, some ideas, I will let you know.

forgive my not wanting to google/laziness...where did you find that? or did you just make it up?

and as for my being well rounded....you should see my music collection....lol! i have everything from beethoven to motley crue to sarah brightman to skinny puppy to the beatles to barry manilow....and even some vintage bobby vinton....lol! i actually aquired some really old 78's this past summer...haven't fixed my old record player yet, so haven't been able to listen to them....
and hey....you have me talking about myself...how did that happen?
