Hi, I am LostInEmulation, this is my first time on this site and I found out yesterday, that I have been found out to have Asperger (and some other hard to pronounce and doubleplusungood problems of which I hope some are misdiagnostics) a while ago. I live in Germany and have done that all my life (which explains my sommetimes bad English). I study computer science and am fascinated by a lot of things in that regard: Linux, programming, the design of OSes in general and of file systems as detail, you get the idea. Other things, which I love are CCed* music, and a certain kind of Scifi.

What else can I say? I chose that nick because to a certain point, I learned intellectually how I should behave, and often just yearn for not having to emulate the behaviour of an NT.

Also, I have amblyopia (is that the term for 'can not see very well'?) to a certain point and I always thought my issues with the world were from not being able to see things well. :?

I hope that we can have a lot of fun here :)

So you thought your problem was that you couldn't see wery well? How did you react when you found out that you in fact see things clearer than others?

I can not see things very well, my vision is bad enough so I can not make a driver's license. It is something I was born with.

However it was really spooky when I read about Asperger's for the first time (I heard about it ~half a year ago). As if people who I never met knew me. I always thought I was strange because I couldn't see WTH people were doing :?

Welcome ! !!

When I was young, the eye doctor noticed that my left eye was weak, as compared to my right eye. My prescription for contact lenses is quite lop-sided.

welcome :D zwei Bier, bitte! sorry thats the only german i can remember! :oops:

i was just talking with my support worker today about how difficult i find it emulating normal and how much it robs me of having my own identity :( i know how you feel, i wish i didnt have to be so much on guard all the time to act 'normal', i hate it, i just want to be me...

which music do you like? i've always liked the idea of properly free music but dont know whats any good... what would you recommend?

That's how my prescription glasses are. My right eye is lazy, and is worse than my left... so my right lens is thicker than my left.

I am BC, the local combine harvester. I am diagnosed Aspergers, and I don't try to be normal. I figure... if people don't like me for who I am, they can tell it to the header (the cutting rig on the front of a combine.) -laughs some.-

@Strapples nah... Macs are too GUI-ish (I prefer GUIs which are like one background and 12 Xterms ;) ). Also I noticed they don't have sed installed - and that is a program, I rely on quite often.

@gbollard: C, FreePascal or Shellscripts. I love those, which generate new scripts in another language, like a shell script which creates and executes an awk-script.
and for Sci-Fi... Ursula Le Guin, Charles Stross, Cory Doctorow and I just devoured Scarlett Thomas's The End of Mr. Y and love it...

@DivaD: You said it! I fully agree! Früchte des Zorns, Freibeuter AG, Ben Othmann, Buddhaz Yoyos, tryad... I recommend to check jamendo.org for some recommendations.
