Hi there all. I found this site while surfing around online tonight and I thought I'd join up.

Anyway, my name is Amber and I'm a 19 (almost 20) year old college student from the New England area. I was diagnosed with Asperger's when I was about 15, and it was really hard for me to deal with at first. With a single piece of paper I'd gone from being a quirky kid to a quirky kid with a diagnosis to prove it. But now I'm learning that I shouldn't have to be ashamed of being different, and that I should have some pride in myself no matter what my diagnosis is--neurotypical or otherwise.

I'm a Creative Writing major in college with a double minor in Visual Arts and Anthropology/Sociology, so I guess you could say I'm a fairly creative person. I mostly write Americana fiction and poetry. (I have an obsession with Jack Kerouac and his road-epics.) I also like to joke to my family about my recently-adopted Anthropology minor that I can now really be "an anthropologist on mars".

I look forward to spending some time here and getting to know you all!
