Hey everyone, I'm so glad I found this site. I was reading about how the computer hacker in NZ got busted for running those botnets and at the end of the article it said that he was dx'd with AS and I was curious as to what it was. I read the wikipedia article, came here and it was almost as if it changed my life. I hadn't read anything as compelling as this and while my situation is complicated and requires a lot of work on my part, I also had a huge weight off my shoulders. I am currently trying to get a referral to a specialist to get a formal diagnosis but i'm absolutely certain that I have AS. Anyways, I'm slowly bringing myself to keep my mind on-track for treatment and I would like others to know what I've been through but I'll save that for another post in another part of the forums. I am so relieved and much happier knowing that I'm not alone. In checking the site the past couple of days and reading all I can about AS, I'd have to say that you guys have really helped me get more motivated with seeking help. Thanks!

Bonjour diplomatico,

Welcome. I'd just like to pick on the word "help" which you mention. Bear in mind that there is help and there is help. Being an Aspie is a difference not something to be "cured". Having said that, help with learning social skills is good help - just don't let anyone talk down to you as being inferior.

I also noticed the word "help" and agree with TallyMan's post.

I have found the most important thing is to be at peace with yourself as an aspie. Also, and I can only speak for myself, things improve as you get older and gain more experience, it just takes a while.
