Hi. I like many of you have autism, actually Asperger's Syndrome. I was diagnosised at 17 when my mom noticed my odd behavior at home, I was taking things way too literally. I was also getting into a fight between my sister-in-law whom was pregnant with her second child at the time. I said something that was really hurtful to her. She was in a bad mood from her pregnancy and she was grouchy most of the day and this was at Thanksgiving. She snapped at my sister, and I stood up for my sister, frankly I butted into something that wasn't my business and when my brother and his wife were about to leave I was still mad I said, "Bye, Hope you loose your baby." Evidentally they heard me underneath my breath, everyone in the room did. Eventually, I apologized and after many days things calmed down. I am 21 now and everyday I take a look back on either my teenage years or even my childhood and seriously think that even back then, the things I did anything that was "odd" was linked to the autism. For instance, what is a huge ritual for me is rocking on the couch. Especially when I'm listening to music. Another thing I have problems with is taking jokes in a funny way, I really can't. I take them literally. Ever since childhood. A teacher told me "Why did the chicken cross the road?" and someone said the answer, but I didn't find it funny, but everyone else did. I still don't get it. O_o;; Sorry this is so long... Does anyone have any sensory issues? Lately I've been having more than I can tolerate, yesterday was terrible. But, things couldn't be helped. Oh well.

Welcome to WrongPlanet.net! My sensory issues aren't extremely bad. My social skills (particularly nonverbal cues) are my biggest weakness. I hope you enjoy being a member of the community here. I should let you know that I have a tendency towards satire and parody in my writing, so take everything I say with caution.

Welcome to Wrong Planet! I also look back at the odd things that I've said and done, when I was younger.
