So .... this is the place to post when we've just registered?
Unofficially diagnosed Aspie in 2006/2007. Suddenly, my lifelong feeling like everyone around me is, well, from another planet, makes a whole lot more sense.
Age: 41. Though I don't remember how I even got into my 30's, much less how 40 happened.
Family: Me, myself, and I. Single, never married. My dating pool has so far been starving artists; interesting people, but not always the stable-relationship type so much as the ooh-I-just-decided-I-was-Merlin-in-a-previous-life-I-have-to-go-off-into-the-forest-and-write-a-song-about-it type. No kids - I leave that to my siblings. Scooping out the cat box pretty much hits the limit of my maternal instincts.
From: Detroit originally. Correction, make that, "DE-TROIT ROCK CITY!! !" Have migrated to St. Louis (too much old money), Denver (prettier, but too much new money), Central and Northern Arizona (beautiful - paradise on Earth), and currently Taos Ski Valley, New Mexico (Great Lakes girl in me missed the snow).
Occupation: Too many to name. With the Aspie DX came the re-assessment of what jobs work or don't work and why. The discovery? I seem to thrive in seasonal, contract, short-term jobs. There long enough for my skills to impress, not long enough for icky office politics to trip me up. So the current recuring gigs = Park Ranger, Computer nerd (in various forms), Film Festival Audio Video tech, Budding Writer.
What I'm doing when I clock out: Watching something SciFi-ish (Farscape and Buffy/Angel are the standards which all others dream of coming close to in awesomeness), sometimes reading something SciFi-ish, writing, armchair research - sometimes for fun and sometimes for whatever I'm writing (currently; primitive technology, cultural anthropology and the psychology of myth). My Sirius radio is almost always on Classic Vinyl or Classic Rewind. Hiking, camping, finding an excuse to take a motorcycle road trip, and since I now work at a ski resort, soon learning to ski and possibly snowboard. Already own my own crutches. Ready to go!! !
Is that a valid introduction?
- Jo
