Hi,

I'm new here, having found the site through google...I use a couple of other forums (fora?) but find them tough going so thought I'd see if there was something out there for people more like me.

I'd better start by saying I don't have a formal Dx. I read something the other day that made me think, so took the AQ online and scored (surprisingly to me) 47...took it again as I thought I'd been exaggerating perhaps, and scored 44, then 45...

It would explain a lot tbh. I've had problems all my life, fitting in and so on - anxiety, depression, eating disorder, pretty much from the age of 8 or 9. I don't know if I have AS but I'd like to find out.

Sorry if I am wasting anyone's time, I might be completely wrong, but I'd really appreciate having a chat here and finding out whether I fit the bill as it were. I'm very lonely in veryday life and sometimes it all feels a bit much so would be good to find people who understand.

Thankyou :)

Hello Flight and welcome to the WrongPlanet. You are not wasting anybody's time. You have come to the right place. It sounds like you have issues that could indicate AS. You should pursue a formal diagnosis if you want to know for sure. I was quite relieved and happy after receiving my AS diagnosis. But there are many members of WrongPlanet who are not on the autistic spectrum but still find this site worthwhile for issues they may have. And there are some who have a family member or a friend who is diagnosed, and there are some who are just interested in learning about autism. So no matter what your future holds in terms of a diagnosis---you are welcome here.

If you're looking for more info about Asperger's Syndrome, you're in the right place. And if you connect with any of the posts, you're in the right place.

I don't have a diagnosis, but if I don't have it, I certainly have a collection of personality traits and quirks that add up to the same profile. So there you go. I find AS explains a lot about me, too. And my son has what I'd call and informal diagnosis (his school made it, not a doctor).

Thanks guys. It means a lot - you're very kind.

I tried to reply earlier but the screen froze up so I logged off and just came back.

It's good to know there are others who feel they have AS but don;t have the formal Dx - it;s hard to find anyone who is properly trained to assess round here. I've seen psychiatrists in the past who have always said I have depression and referred me for some kind of psychotherapy - the first time individually, whichw as good but it only lasted 6 months, and the second time I was offered a place in a group. I couldn't bring myself to attend a group as I am socially very anxious/ phobic, so didn't take it.

I have two young boys, the younger is 21 months and I think he has a couple of red flags for autism, so am trying to get him assessed also.

It's good to talk to you people :)

Welcome, Flight.

I can relate to the social anxiety getting in the way of group work :) Hope you find some useful info here.

Hi Flight and others,

Im also new to this place so this is my first post in this massive huge forum....
Anyway I know for sure I formally came to the right place as I do have a diagnosis of AS since 2000. But if it is the right place in longterm is yet to be discovered . I just hope I can meet nice people to exchange experiences and thoughts with but I know its not easy to do.....
I was diagnosed when I was 25 years old and had before that struggled alot with things in life and truly still do...

I have also social phobia/anxiety so Im affraid my post here will be drown in the big crowd and not noticed at all...

*uncertain fragile soul* :ncool:
