Hello all. My name's Josh and I'm 32 years old and work as a computer programmer in Detroit. I've been lurking here for a couple weeks now. I strongly suspect I'm an aspie though I have not had that diagnosed yet (mostly because I really dread new situations, which going to a therapist would be, so I can't get myself to even make the call for an appointment.). I first read about Asperger's a while ago in an old Wired article and immediately thought "wow, that's me." Later I stumbled across this site while doing a google search for more information.
I guess my main goal of being here is to find more people like myself. Like many others here (Based on what I've read) I'm rather lonely...I don't have a lot of friends and none of them really understand me...like how some days the sound of someone talking to me grates on my ears like a chainsaw, or how on some other days I just totally melt down at work and have to go sit in the dark in the bathroom for a half hour to calm down. When I first started reading the forums here it actually cheered me up to see that all this isn't just me. I would love to have some new friends to chat with who are more understanding...I have so many questions and so many things I'd like to talk to others about. All my IM contact info is in my profile so please feel free to drop me a note if you see me online.
