Hello--I'm new here, obviously. My 13-year-old nephew is a brilliant Aspie, and I love him very much. I'm in the middle of neuropsych testing, and one of the goals is to "rule out" or diagnose AS in myself. I'm really not sure, but there are a lot of traits and lots of history to suggest that I am an Aspie too. Odd to discover this kind of thing in my late 40s, but I'd rather understand more of how I tick than not understand.
I have a doctorate in music (conducting) (and a bachelor's in English and master's in conducting), and am on the job market, wondering desperately where I will fit in better. I live alone with my two beloved and ever-shedding devoted cats Sophie and Jessie. I have been a professor of music at a liberal arts college, and am now (till the end of the summer) a church musician, but I lost my job. Rotten in this economic morass. Wish me luck. I live north of Chicago but am originally from Canada; I've lived a lot of places and feel rootless.
More about myself perhaps another time.
