THIS is exactly why secret admonitions
suck. SOME are so weak as to be bullied
by them. I'm damned glad that there are
people with enough gumption not only to
refuse, but to state clearly what kind of
ridiculous harassment is going on.

This is NO different than the type of
warning which caused the last ruckus.
Except that the victim outed the issue,
instead of just taking it out on the forum
as a whole.

Both are. I was. I expected better
of both, given what has recently passed.

There was a recent problem here
having to do with warnings sent by
PM. Like yours, they seemed completely
out of accord with how the site had been
being run, previous to the return of Mr.
Mark. Members were disturbed by having
what seemed unreasonable constraints on
their posts. A brief set of exchanges occurred,
and they were taunted into spamming and
flaming the site - resulting in their banning.

Most of these members were readmitted,
though I can think of at least one whose only
crime was directly connected to this same issue
(another mod) but remains banned. The warnings
were judged in poor judgment. I had sincerely
hoped that lessons were learned, and that I could
safely step down, the fight being over. It is seeming
clear that NOTHING was learned, and the same ugly
tactics are being used.

You have to realize, when mods make
'suggestions' it's tantamount to a threat.

And not everyone takes kindly. You'd have
to phrase it VERY carefully to manage not
to make it sound like such - along the lines
of, "I don't give a damned, but there are
children here, and it might be nice if...."

Anything stronger than that, is going to rankle
people.

Nor, I think, by Mr. Mark. Damn man,
it's just a matter of judging the effects
better.

I'm doing no different from what
I did privately before. But, with the
loss of half of the most active mods,
I saw little reason for continuing the
arguments there. AND, it looked like
freedom had won out.

If I had had any belief that it would be
torn apart again so swiftly - even with all
of the signs of distrust left in the last event's
wreckage, I would have stayed on.

Fine. Personally, I don't give a flying one about the avatar myself, but there are children, not to mention people who'd get offended by it.

Do you want me to actually explicitly state what I think my overall duty as a mod is here?

except from abandoning this site for imposing unreasonable
edicts.

That's exactly how it starts:
