So basically, when you're in the chat room, don't act Autistic, don't appear Autistic, and above all, don't show any Autistic anti-social behaviors.

Is the #wp-alt room still active?

Define active.

It's still registered, yes.

And it's fine to be autistic. it all comes down to don't be an a-hole (which some people seem to need spelled out in infinitesimal detail).

There are several chat related threads in this forum still current. Why don't you create somewhere else where you can address all these concerns, which is more apparent to chat users, rather than spilling over to the discussion forums?

The #wrongplanet channel is affiliated with WrongPlanet.net. Why is it not appropriate to use this site, when it was this site that set up the channel?

This is "wrongplanet.net" discussion not #wrongplanet and wrongplanet.net

And yet others try not to be but that's just the way their brains work. Many people often tell me that I'm the biggest "a-hole" they know, I'm not trying to be, it's just the way I (and many other people on the spectrum that I've met) tend to come off. Part of having extremely literal thinking is absolutely brutal honesty, which covers up the "little white lies" that are often used to cover honesty with politeness. So define "a-hole", because many people define very anti-social behaviors as being a trait of an a-hole. Carrying on with a thought and not letting it go is another "a-hole" tendancy, where people ask you to stop talking about something that you're deeply interested which others consider as a "taboo" topic, a lot of people would call a person who does that an "a-hole".

So I guess as long as you don't show any of the undesirable communicative characteristics of Asperger's then you're free to talk in the Asperger's chat room, simple as that?

^^ what would you rather have, NI? What sustainable structure are you suggesting that would accomdate for typical Asperger's Syndrome behaviour?

just curious,

Merle

Please don't put words into my mouth, especially as I'm one of the ops who consistently says "that's Asperger's, NOT trolling".

Also, don't condescend to me. I've been around the autism world for years. I know what NTs percieve as a-hattery and what is actually meant as such.

If you have an issue with the rules of #wrongplanet, no one is making you chat there.

Merle, I remember an interesting discussion some years ago, something to do with ‘passive aggressive’ behaviour. I was arguing that that term was over used term. I also stated that it was coined by army doctors in the Vietnam War to characterise types of descent of soldiers. You were argued something like that is was valid to use the term on yourself an others. Guess it is a question of perspective, but I'm beginning to get your point.

I'm expressing my view on this, problem?

I also think it would be be better for them if they have a dedicated place.

the mod team allowed KateSmith et. al the WrongPlanet.net discussion area for these discussions.

The book "Living with the Passive-Aggressive Man" lists 11 responses that may help identify passive-aggressive behavior.

Ambiguity or speaking cryptically: a means of engendering a feeling of insecurity in others.
