There's something I sincerely don't understand.

Why do people who are so bothered by my daily report continue to read it?

They just want something to whinge about, that's all.

Well, you're speculating about the thoughts and feelings of others. I was hoping to hear from the others. While what you say might be true, I'm guessing that they probably don't feel that it is.

You're being overly charitable. Why don't we have more cynicism here?

Reminds me of that exchange in a Dilbert episode about substituting experience with cynicism....

Catbert: Asok has no experience....

Asok: I am a blank slate.

Catbert:...but what he doesn't realise is that cynicism is almost as good.

Asok: It is?

Catbert: Yes. Just start believing the worst about people, and you'll usually be right.

Asok: I feel wiser already.

Well, you might be right, but I feel there's an abundance of spin-doctoring towards cynicism out there. I try to build some momentum the other way, show people that it is safe to be positive. Also, it's a question that is designed to induce some introspection in some people. I feel that most people spend far too much time talking about others, and not nearly enough thinking about and talking about themselves, which does not diminish the sincerity of the question. I do not understand the mind that continues to indulge in that which it finds distasteful. From day one, many of those who have expressed support for my efforts have expressed concern that my words fall on deaf ears. They're absolutly right, they do fall on deaf ears, but they also fall on the ears of those who can hear.
Overly charitable? Not possible. Unlike cynicism, charity doesn't cost me a thing, and the returns are considerable.

MrMark, I feel that you didn't want my opinion and that I'm not welcome on this site and maybe I should leave permanently this time. I've had an interesting life and a good innings really, despite all the hassles and struggles at times.

So what is it that has brought you to these conclusions?

Some people wanted accountability, and Mr Mark gave it to them. However, I don't think that mods should have to be accountable and waste their time reporting when they must have other things to do in real life, spending enough time on the forum already. I don't have a problem with it, though. Mr Mark is a good moderator, and doesn't deserve to be hassled, if people are doing that.

Accountability is important. I don't know how much purpose
his thread serves, but it doesn't do ANY harm.

I DO hope that he only means the kind
which would make one happy, rather than
the slang usage of the word. But, he wouldn't
be typing, in THAT case.

Funny in a pathetic way as in "who the f**k would bother to send him love letters is he lying, making up, are they a troll, WTF?"

Oh come on. He's very happy about it.
He managed to connect with someone.
Don't denigrate the moment.

LOL

I'm happy for him, even if the love letter is sent from a sockpuppet, at least the good moment is what it counts.

Oh, bloody hell...
I take a brief hiatus to regroup, and put this all in perspective.

I weighed the good (this board and 98% of what it has to offer) with the bad (Quatermass, mrmark, etc)

And I comeback, with a fresh avatar, signature and attitude. "Every party needs a pooper," therefore if Quatermass and mrmark didn't exist, we'd only have to create them ourselves.

SO will someone please in the name of all that is holy or unholy (depending on your belief system) please kill this thread?

As good as a catharsis is, this has gone on WAY too phucking long!

I think killing it is a bad idea.
I don't think it serves any real
purpose, but it would set a poor
precedent.
