The debate is over and we are going to give the new rules time to settle in and see how they improve things.
To address the OP original concerns:
We are all in agreement that we need more bodies and are working on it behind the scenes.
We believe that consistency will be much better going forward and actively solicit input and feedback when it does not seem that way.
Editing a post for frivolous reasons with no notice of the edit having been made will never happen again.
In closing I want to genuinely thank the OP and everyone who contributed to the discussion here. I think it has helped move us in a positive direction and I look forward to continued feedback.
