Some posts I can delete

Some I can't.

Is this God's way of telling me I should leave my dodgy posts up, or some quirk of forum functionality?

I think I read in this forum that you can only delete so far back so you can't mess up the continuity of threads.

Posts can only be edited/deleted for up to 9999 minutes, which is approximately one week.

Posts can be deleted if no one else has made a reply in that thread after you made yours. But I think that is only for certain boards because I find myself not always being able to delete posts after I make mine even if no one else has replied after me and this be right after I make mine.

Right, this is the case I am finding. They are posts or threads I have made only seconds previously that no one else has posted to.

I've discovered you can only delete your post if it's the last post on the thread.

Once I posted a post almost a year ago, and nobody has written another post after mine on that topic, and it still is the last post on that topic and there's still a delete button in the top right hand corner of my post.
