On the Mature Aspies forum, we realized that some of us would like a women-only forum, where we can discuss such things as menstruation, breast and ovarian cancer, and other issues which are uncomfortable to discuss in a mixed venue or simply oriented to women. This would not be a "free-range male-bashing" forum, just a place to talk about issues specific to women.

I don't think it needs to be a mature area necessarily - menstruation starts with most girls around 12 or 13 (sometimes earlier, sometimes later) and it might nice for aspie girls to be in on those discussions, and most of these issues would be relevant to any female in or past puberty.

I would suspect that some men might like a men's only forum as well, but I'll let them speak for themselves.

I've never requested a forum before and am not sure what the process is. What else do we need to do?

Kewl. By the way, sorry for posting the "announcements" up in other forums - I wasn't trying to get duplicate discussions - just trying to get people aware so they could come here and discuss. Thanks for locking the thread in members-only.

Yes, very good idea.

Female aspergers is, I suspect, the Next Big Thing! I reckon that it'll turn out that the female:male ratio is more like 40:60, because females often present in different ways from males.

Until then, a female only space would be good, to discuss the particular difficulties facing spectrum women (like, e.g. HOW do you get your GP to listen to you about your spectrum-related issues instead of putting EVERYTHING down to 'wimmin's ishoos'??)

You're obviously hysterical. ;-)

(The term originates with the Greek medical term, hysterikos. This referred to a medical condition (probably PMS), peculiar to women, caused by disturbances of the uterus, hystera in Greek. The term hysteria was coined by Hippocrates, who thought that the cause of hysteria was irregular movement of blood from the uterus to the brain.

I thought it was good to have blood in the brain, supplies oxygen and other good stuff.

I think its worth trying...I know I heard a comment elsewhere that I could relate to about "generally having all male friends and not getting along well with most women"Thats been true for me also, but I've never been around the kind of women I've seen post on this forum...alot of "tomboys" and women with great analytical skills and great written verbal skill....Half the time I dont even realize someones gender here until they state it(it is part of why I chose an ambiguous nick myself)

If we had a womens only forum, I would think it only fair that there be a men only forum. But, I do like the idea.

I would also like to be a member of the women's only forum. I like the idea of a women's only forum for all ages.

I, too, like the idea of a women-only forum.

I think the womens only forum is a good idea.

I'm skeptical; although it does sound like a good idea on paper, it's hard to say what ramifications it'll have. Most NT women-only forums seem to be all about male-bashing.

Actually, most of them are filled with lonely guys pretending to be lesbians. I should know.

Aspie1.. weren't you the one that authored 'Escorts revisted'? You're worried about male bashing but think promoting the exploitation of women is okay? :?
It might look a bit contradictory having threads about how to get prositutes followed by threads about domestic violence and sexual abuse. Need seperate forums.
