Is there a way that I can filter the forums to not show posts or replies from particular people? I like the forums here, but two or three people genuinely upset me each and every time they pop up on my screen so I haven't used them much at all this year. I'd like to come back, but those upsetting people are still there. Is there anything I can do here?

You may want to talk to Alex or one of the Moderators about that. As far as I know, there isn't any way for you to block these posts. Judging by the date you've signed on, these must be some pretty tenative people you're dealing with, and if they've been along for as long, or more likely, longer than you have, then that's even more reason to bring this up. Judging by your rank (determined by your amount of posts), these people must be saying some serious stuff to or about you to stop you from posting. Don't worry, Alex or a mod will be able to sort things out.

By the way, I personally like your username, as I like cheese! (so having it twice in your username is even better!)

That is a bit ridiculous - hiding from a problem doesn't really do anything. How about you address it directly? Tell these individuals what your issue is and see if you can better understand one another's positions. I don't like hearing about people dying in car accidents but I still watch the news - take the good with the bad, the pleasant with the unpleasant because that is life. Filtering out things you don't want to see is ignorance.

That's a nice theory, Mitch, but if it were that simple the issue would have been resolved a long time ago. Common sense, please.

That isn't really fair. It might be how to deal with it in real life, but the internet is different.

I had a small dip into your post history (not trying become the people you're talking about here, just so you know) to try and see a pattern of users, but most of the topics you've posted in are in the Adult Asperger Issues Forum, which isn't a place I go to (hey, I'm only 16) because the stuff there isn't really of a style that I like, and for good reason, so I'm unable to help you further.

I make a feature request and so people decide to jump on the post to disect it for information and drama, go back through my previous posts, tell me that I'm being ignorant?
Yep, I don't want to be on this site at all. Thanks for reminding me. Goodbye.

Well to block a users posts you would have to block other users posts who quote
those users. That could make many threads unreadable if deeply nested quotes
are used.

I'm guessing you could keyword search using logical operators to exclude
those 2-3 users you do not want to see. Though reading the forums that way
may not be fun.

Have you even tried? Why can't you just look at who has posted along the side and skip that colour (blue or green) if you are so desperate? Also I'm interested: how can these people upset you every single time they post? What offends and upsets you so deeply that they seem to be posting about every time?

Don't be a drama queen cheese, you made a topic and we replied. If you didn't want any input then you should have PM'd the admin privately. I tried to help, you don't like it? Then perhaps when you figure out a way to filter posts you can add mine to the list.

Or cohesive, or representative.

You don't need to worry about me anymore because I'm banned for good.

Kahazidhea: Every forum I've been on where someone has pulled that stunt ends up being banned. So I wouldn't risk it if I were you.

On other boards i frequent they have an ignore function - they run vbulletin software.

I dont know whether WP has that feature disabled, or if its just not an option on the software. Vbulletin doesnt have a 'view your posts' function (which i use a lot) so its swings and roundabouts...

Cheesecheese:
Put down that ego before somebody gets hurt!
Quit acting so immature.
You can't really be that overly dramatic.
If you can't take that, how can you survive life?
The universe does not revolve around you, so you better start accepting that other people have other opinions, no matter how dumb you think theirs are, because they probably think yours are dumb too.
But you are not your opinions.
If someone attacks your opinions, there's no reason to be upset, unless you're not secure in yourself, in which case you should work on that by just swallowing your pride.
There are people I disagree wholeheartedly with, and sometimes I would also like to be able to filter them out, but I still listen to them, and I defend their right to their stupid opinions.
I'm one of the few I know who is not upset when the neo-nazis have demonstrations in town, but I think their ideology is one of the most stupid things ever.
So I just detach myself from it.
Now if you've read this far without leaving, then there might still be hope.

vBulletin has that function but I don't believe that phpbb does.

I think what she's talking about here, ion, is the kind of people that insult you by posting the opposite opinion to yours, and making it very strong, and putting in some subtle comments to say 'Hey, I don't like you, and I'm going to make your time miserable'.
