Cannot sign in on desktop because of 'Shameful' pop up

IN MY THREE YEARS ON WRONG PLANET, THIS IS THE MOST SERIOUS TECHNICAL ISSUE I HAVE SEEN.

A little while ago, I was unable to sign in at the library I frequently use because I kept getting a pop-up for "Shameful - Autism in France."

I am able to make this post because I was already signed in on my iphone.

PS If you only have good access to one desktop, please be careful signing out. You may not be able to sign back in.

I have noscript so I have no run into anything like this. maybe you should consider getting a small flash drive and keeping a portable browser on it. that way you have everything set up how you want it on any computer.

Yes, I'm always interested in learning new things, but it shouldn't be this difficult.

This is something moderators and people working the technical side of WP should be aware of. And you sound pretty technically savvy. Any chance you might be able to lend a hand?

have you tried going directly to the page you want instead of going through the main page? I have never gotten the popup you are talking about so its hard for me to figure out what is going on. does it come up when you try to log in?

Yes it does come up when I try and log in.

I am unable to log in because it does come up.

I think it's that important.

I tried to get the popup to come up for me but it never did. screenshots would help but without being able to see it, its hard to figure out how to fix it.

As soon as I click on Nickname on the login page, I get a "Shameful" pop-up.

As soon as I tab to the [Login] button and hit return, I get another pop-up.

Almost anything I do gives me a pop-up.

And I don't get signed in.

what browser are you using?

It's Internet Explorer probably somewhat dated (since it is at the library)

But I have never had these problems before and I've tried jockeying with the pop-up (experimenting with making it both more strict and less, but no success).

I had that too with explorer. It seems to work ok with Safari, but I hate Safari.

I had issues with it too. Logged in on tablet just fine.
even with popup blocker set strictly on high, filters set high, it still kept glitching me at login on laptop.
The trailer for the french movie Shameful is popping up anytime I click on the login page to enter text...nickname box or password box, or to click to login. The popup movie is now blocked, but it is still tying to pop up and refusing to allow login.

This is acting like a redirect and may be...a different addy flashes for a second before the movie pops up....api.viglink.com....something

Yes this pops up when you click into the area to put in your username and password.

We are going to lose the participation of some members unable to sign in other ways.

IE keeps popping up with every click... chrome works fine - thank goodness.

Slap the guy who thought popups were a good idea at all.
