WrongPlanet Lurker has been sending death threats!

Hello everyone,

I have been receiving messages from someone I do not know. This person has sent a fair amount of death threats and after having sent some messages back and forth I found out that he found my facebook using WrongPlanet. I wanted to warn everyone on this site who has ever posted a picture on here (someone can easily find your Facebook using Google Image Search) or any kind of information that could lead to your Facebook page or whatever social media you use.

Please do not take these threats seriously! This is just someone who's doing this because they have nothing better to do with their life. This person went by the name "James Twigg" and has been sending threats that he's going to come to my house, abuse me and kill me. He also said he was in the city where I live. Do not be fooled! I, for example, have this information on both Wrong Planet and Facebook, so he simply read that.
If you get these threats, again, do not take these seriously! Just block him immediately (unlike me who thought this was hilarious and kept sending him messages).

Please do not believe this troll.

This is very concerning, both for you personally and members who do post photos of themselves here. Photo matching for malicious purposes is such a hostile, callous and unconscionable behaviour. I hope you have used Facebook's complaint reporting process. (They do respond, though it can take a few days).

Back to WP: could you please advise urgently :
have you received any suspicious (could be the same person) messages via the PM system on Wrong Planet which we use to send private messages to other members?

If this has happened:
1 please notify the mods immediately
2 send us copies if you have them via the PM reporting system (there's a button there for this)
3 if you deleted them then let us know what username they arrived under

I am moving your thread to the Wrong Planet discussion forum. If anyone else reading this has experienced the same, your reports would be very helpful.

I see the mods have taken care of this but I'll add my thoughts,

Why are you not taking this seriously? I mean I get that its stupid and you can just ignore it which I would do in your shoes but you need to let law enforcement in your area know. Document this stuff and give whatever IP address, username, email, phone number, facebook account or anything else to the police.

The hotmail address listed on FrozenSoul's profile WP matches the name of "James Twigg" who sent the troll messages (shown earlier in this thread by the OP) to the OP's Facebook account.

Oh nice, I can't tell if your being serious but assuming you are, did you use your hotmail to create your troll facebook account cause judging from your username you did and that is a mistake as someone can find your facebook now. Possibly giving you a taste of your own medicine. Also I don't have a facebook so don't bother trolling me.

Also if that email leads to your facebook then your IP address is visible just to let you know...

The troll may have used a different troll name to send the threatening FB messages to members other than the OP in this thread. Would any other recipients please advise of this - either here or by PM. It may have been a one-off though trolls generally target more than one person.
