Maybe I shouldn't be here on WP any more
I am a self-obsessed prick that doesn't deserve support from members here.
I thought I was better than that but I'm not. I feel guilty for expressing my thoughts too much.
I'm thinking of leaving this place and starting over with a different autism forum, one where I can be less self-obsessed and not show my anxious side so much.
At least I don't fail on Facebook.

There is no need to feel guilty Joe, this is a support website. Everyone has problems and if they act like they don't, they are not being honest. It's okay Joe, hope you feel better soon.

I completely disagree with your self assessment. You don’t cause any trouble for other people here. Yes you have your quirks, but that goes with the territory. It isn’t a “bad” thing.
I think you should try to imagine what you would say if you saw another user saying these things. Then say it to yourself.
If you really want to leave then nobody can stop you, but I’m not sure joining another forum would change that much.

Expressing your thoughts simply allows you to gain a greater perspective/self-awareness.
I do it all the time.
It's just how I've been made to feel. At the moment I'm under a lot of pressure and suffering with some mental health issues and other personal issues, so I come here to vent and then get some people putting words into my mouth just because I didn't like their advice. I appreciate all replies, and if this site had a ''like'' feature like Facebook, I would use it whenever I read a post, rather than having to post a short reply to every comment. I'm not this self-obsessed on Facebook or in real life, but I do use WP as a discussion forum to discuss or vent about things anonymously. But apparently that is not how WP should be used.

Joe this isn't a professional support site, the people offering support are your equals and your peers, each with their own personal and autistic challenges in life too.
They wouldn't be here often otherwise.
As the saying goes you have to take the rough with the smooth, otherwise some people would need to be designated as "more protected" than others... But then we wouldn't all be equals as members.
Right now every person is having to adapt to all these C-19 changes and I'll make an assumption that the majority of autistic people on this site struggle with change. So it could be safe to assume that the members replying to you are equally struggling just like you are and are figuring it out as they go too. They just might be expressing it differently, but that doesn't mean that they are experiencing it less.

Ditto:
I’m pretty sure that you’re using these forums for their primary intended function and should feel no shame for doing so.
Currently you’re having a lot of difficulties coping with the situation, and need to vent and seek support frequently: it would be childish for us to expect every piece of advice we give to be workable and realistic for you.
But, the situation will pass: and then you may very well be the one giving support to some of us who have been trying as best we can to do so for you.
I thought Facebook was itself a source of stress due to it’s news barrage?
There isn’t a like button, but the thought occurs that you could quote a post and then just put a big smiley face underneath as an equivalent if you’ve liked it but aren’t mentally energised enough to give a full reply.
Can only speak for myself, but I certainly would not be offended by so brief a response.

I wonder why he's green... usually either sick or jealous!
Joe90, I fully agree with what others have said here, notably blackicmenace and The_Walrus. This website is here for support and communication and you need not feel that way. In fact most of us on the spectrum have such feelings of self introspection. Only sociopaths never have such feelings.

I am not the sort to give short replies with just a face. I do that on Facebook, but here if I did that I'll have almost a whole page of short posts like that in my ''see all posts by Joe90'' page. I am here more for reading and writing discussion posts. Facebook was invented more for all the ''big hugs'' and ''there there'' stuff. I don't do that so much here. But I don't like being criticised for it, or I don't like it being pointed out when having an unintentional conflict with members in other threads.
I am running low on expressing sympathy right now, because I am too overanxious about getting through this crisis without going mad. I just don't want everyone here thinking that I'm too self-obsessed with lack of empathy, because my real life self is far from that.

@Joe: Most of us are going through a tough time right now so we understand your frustrations.
@Pepe: Great colour scheme to choose! I'm thinking of getting a gorilla mask - so much more interesting than a medical one!

If there are unintentional conflicts, perhaps the problem is on the other side.
The thing I have found is that all too often people put a spin, of their own making, on what is being said.
Often it is their insecurities, lack of insight, or preoccupations, that distorts the meaning a person is conveying.
I'm not sure if this is more an aspie thing since I have little to do with NT websites.
But I'm pretty sure it does happen on both sides of the neurotypical fence, often "enough".

I have a torque-scarf/bandana with the bottom of a skull printed on it.
It seems appropriate, atm.
Can't work out why, though.

Well, I only feel fully comfortable with short posts if I’m attempting to achieve humour.

I know exactly which thread you mean: I’ve seen it.
I think the particular suggestion you found grossly unhelpful was one of mine if I remember rightly? No worries there on my score.
(I can be a right annoying wally at times, no problems with you or anyone else pointing that out)
I don’t think that
Anxiety can get the best of all of us, I’ve certainly had periods when all I could see in life was the terror of all around me: I can’t in all conscience think any the less of anyone for sharing a weakness I myself have.
(Truth be told, seeing other members sharing their problems is a great help to me in dealing with mine, feel less alone and “wrong” for seeing it)
