I can assure you that his posting
this report is NOT a matter of ego.

The events leading up to those terminations
called issues into question, and this strikes
me as a means of informing the membership
of what is going on. Any such information can
only be a good thing.

LOL

Is he a special mod? why does he do stuff like that? Why does he make mission statements?
Why did he get his own little meet the moderators thread, (I noticed queatermass made one too, later, after he had made one, probably because mr mark was trying to look like the big Cheese)

Why does he have that sticky doing that, acting like he's saving the world or something, and that stupid,
"hey planeteers!" thing in his meet the mods thread?! This is wrong planet! Not CAPTAIN planet, big difference.

Seriously. Mods are just there to help with the cleanign up of the forum, make sure people are doing what they should be...

Why is he acting like he's the owner/runner of this website? :? Shouldn't alex be posting that? why don't any of the other mods do that?

My point exactly.

Yeah, I wonder why he is the only mod who does that, not even Alex does this, same with that meet the mods thread.

Is that some ego boosting? He probably wants to feel important or something.
why isn't there a meet alex thread?

I want to make my own Report to the Membership thread, can I do that?
I want to feel important, I need to boost my self esteem a little.

I'm not really qualified to answer these,
but since no one else is bothering, I suppose
that I should.

First, as I said, this ain't an ego thing.
His actions came under fire. This is a
means of describing those actions to the
membership. Personally, I think that the
whole reporting should have been handled
with greater unity and discussion amongst
the mods. But, very few bannings, other than
against pure spammers, were conducted by
other mods.

As to Alex, I DO believe that he should be making
more statements to the community. Not of the
variety of Mr. Mark's thread (which doesn't do
too much), but rather that ALL moderating actions
should be handled in a more open fashion. This
would apply across the board. Anything involving
the real membership.

But, from what I was led to understand, the site is
returning to a much lighter hand. That the situation
which arose was due to some errors and misunderstandings.
And thus, it is unlikely that any bannings or warnings
will be necessary, except for things that EVERY member
would clearly see as beyond the pale. Meaning that
public warnings would serve less purpose.

#2 you arent the exact example of reporting anything to anyone

Well, I care. I was being slandered. Rumors were going around that I was deleting posts that I had not deleted, (I did delete some posts), and that I had banned some people that I had not banned, (I did ban some people). My report to the membership is an attempt to bring more transparency to my activities. You deserve to know what I’ve been up to. I suppose some of you prefer the so-called “do-nothing-mods” that others have complained so vocally about.

No. I only just now found this thread using the search term “mrmark.” As I told you on a previous occasion, it’s a hellava way to get my attention. Who among you has time to read dozens of new threads and 10,000 new posts everyday?

Part of my job is to take the heat off Alex. If you need somebody to hate, hate me. Go on, rip me a new one, I can take it. If you’re tearin’ into me, at least you’re not tearing into more vulnerable members. But tearing into me isn’t as much fun as tearing into someone you can get a reaction out of, now is it. Bear in mind, Alex banned the last person who attacked me publicly. Nothing you say to me privately, short of threats, will be held against you. Threats, at the very least, will be reported to law enforcement, so that if something happens to me they will have something to go on.

Interesting. I don't remember many complaints being
addressed about us doing too little, and when they did,
we always had to note that those were Alex's instructions
to us. Perhaps we need an UNDERMODERATION thread
as well?

Most of the complaints that I saw about the newer batch of
mods, were more personal in nature.

That's kinda why this particular forum exists.
I know that most of the other mods made it a
habit to look at the posts here. Might be a good
piece of advice.

Hmm, seems like it should rather be the opposite.
I guess Alex ain't a Harry Truman type though.

I wouldn't consider him to be THAT though.
He seems able to handle SOME abuse. I've
even seen him do so.

Not to frighten anyone from criticising the staff, or anything.

Ah, because private complaints remain just that,
and the membership never sees that things might
be handled less than fairly?

I see there is only one mod here who is immune to public attack then eh?
I find that very very interesting lol.
Get out of your own hole . A ban means diddly squat to me, but I am sure it will let others know the dual standards that exist here that are becoming more and more obvious by the day.

I'm hoping that what I was told is true,
and that NONE are, and the noted action
was merely a part of a series of misreadings.

I find it amusing that mr mark has this sort of special status when from what I see, he does very little other than exert his iron fist when it suits him... I also find it amusing that no one was banned when other mods, including myself when I was a mod, were attacked publicly.

As I said, dual standards. Oh so human, lol.
