Am I being overly paranoid (I'm quite paranoid by nature) or is receiving a PM from somebody you asking for personal details like my name and where I live just not right?

Should I ignore the poster who sent them from now on or report him now?

Edit to add: it's from a long time poster here.

Just nicely respond "I am not interested in releasing my details, may i ask why you want them anyways"

Don't give it to them, unless you feel like it. Very few people on this website know my real name.

Seriously though, don't be too offended by the person - many of the aspies here don't have a lot of social skills / tact etc... that's what makes us who we are.

Just respond that you don't want to disclose and leave it at that.

If they badger you... then call for a mod.

I'm probably overreacting, but I've already been harassed online for a long time now and when this poster sent me a PM out of the blue, I felt a little creeped out.

Should I mention his/her name or just leave it at that? He/she hasn't replied to the PMs I sent him/her yet.

Why do they want your details?

Have you become friends with them? if so, it is natural to share but if you have not really spoken much to them, then I can't see why they would want/need to know really.

Me neither, that's why it's so out of place. I'm not friends with this person.

I see. Well it may be someone who has PM'ed quite a few people, I did have a strange PM a few weeks ago from a newcomer and I thought maybe they weren't psychologically very well so I didn't respond too much.

I agree with others, say little.

I replied to his/her PM sarcastically (I'm obviously not going to disclose personal info to a stranger over the web) and sent another PM calling him/her a stalker.

I was really creeped out.

It's probably just another aspie lacking in tact, but I don't know.

I won't be replying to another PM from this user again. *shudder*

I've been gone for 5 months and get nothing, while all other members are complaining about creepy PMs. Weird...

Lol KBABZ and Strapples, not ALL the other members get creepy PMs.

I hardly ever get PMs myself but the people I know IRL I would get an email from them or a mobile message instead.

I don't know how much people use PMs on here but you wouldn't really want to get creepy ones would you?

I don't understand why it's a big deal for people to know where you live. They can't find your residence unless they know your phone number or your whole name.

With only your first name, they still can't find your residence with it. I doubt you're the only one in the country with your name, same as city and you need to type in a last name to find that person anyway.


I don't know what the PMs looked like or what other questions the member asked you and how often he PMed you.
