I feel your pain. Student loans are such a life suck!

There's always the choice of getting an apartment by the campus in Kansas, and then the "living expenses" loans you'll need will be partly made up for by the reduced cost of in-state tuition.

I'm originally from Ohio...some of the state schools there have agreements with neighboring states where the out-of-state fees are waived. Is there anything like that for Missouri and Kansas? You'll get it figured out. Good luck.

Texas has a few schools that waive out-of-state fees for residents of adjoining states, but only if the university is very near the border of the state in question.

For example, UT El Paso will charge New Mexico residents Texas tuition, and the same goes for residents of Juarez, Mexico (right across the border from El Paso).

Midwestern State, in Wichita Falls, charges Oklahoma residents Texas tuition.

UMKC does that for residents in three adjoining Kansas Counties considered the Kansas City Metro, but as far as I have seen no suck luck at the University of Kansas (which is about 45 mins away from where I live)
