My chorus teacher is known for not liking freshmen and not liking girls (three guesses how he feels about freshman girls), and he always blames the freshman girls if someone's singing a wrong note or something like that.

I always get this vibe from him like "get away from me, I hate you", and it bothers me because I don't even know what I did wrong. And he yells at me sometimes even when I don't do anything.

Sounds like an a**hole who's still hung up about being rejected by a girl when he was a freshman.
Seriously, I wouldn't worry about it to much. Sometimes you hate your teachers and you hate your bosses for hating you. It gets a little more complicated when you have a teacher you like and suspect doesen't like you, although this may just be paranoia. Still, I think you handle it the same way.

Make a shirt that says "Quit giving me bad vibes" and stare at him.....

Or you could tell an adult.

I try and ignore them and not let them get to me. But if I was being bullied by the teacher, I would have just quit that course since it's not mandatory. My brother quit show choir because the choir teacher was bullying him.

I've had teachers and other people that didn't care for me, for no particular reason as well. I guess each person has their favorites and least favorites. You have to realize that most of this has to do with them, not you, so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Hi Julia the Great. Best of luck with this. It's a really unfortunate circumstance - school in general that is! lol I know I hated it. Several of my teachers didn't like me, and before I knew it I wasn't allowed back! So I'm probably the wrong person to reply to this post unless I can tell you what not to do! But then again - I have difficulty pinpointing exactly what it was that I did wrong. So in order to perhaps make myself useful here, I'd suggest the practice of patience. Basically it goes like this: when he acts like a jerk to you, don't act like a jerk back! Good luck!

Dye your hair green and dress up as the Joker, then make out with the hottest guy in class. That should grind his gears. Or if all else fails, get an A in the class. That should piss him off. Or if you don't like that, tell a bunch of Chuck Norris jokes to the person sitting next to you while he is instructing. Or you could raise your hand and say something like, "If a quiz look is quizzical, then what is a test look?"

Or you could just ignore him. I mean, he obviously has a problem with freshman girls (fresh man girls, hehehe) so giving him an excuse to be himself isn't a good idea. He doesn't like you, so what? Even if you get a bad grade, it's just high school, and it's just one class. If you turn the other cheek, that should really piss him off. So try that.

There are some people who could carry that off.Though I probably would have just gotten sent to the principal's office for mouthing off. For what's worth here's what I did:

I did everything I could to keep a low profile. That is, I didn't speak unless specifically asked a question, did the minimum required, and generally blended into the wall. Some people will be jerks no matter what you do. No courtesy on your part will touch him and defiance could cause him to make life hard for you--and since you know he doesn't like freshman girls in general, chances are that he has no personal vendetta against you.

In either case, more than likely there are a few outgoing, talkative girls in your class he can bark at if he doesn't notice you. If he's the kind of guy I think he is,he'll be yelling at someone no matter what.

I had an english teacher in grade 11 who hated me.She marked me hard and was very snobby and rude to me and said id never go anywhere in life..Thankfully, she got pregnant and we got a new teacher and I passed that class and went on to do well in grade 12 english...Now Im in my second year of college...I proved that old bag wrong.Id love to be sitting in a lawfirm working and she comes in and I say...guess who will be doing your legal paperwork...with a big smirk on my face. :D

Had that problem. I went to the Dean. Of course I'm a lot older, so that might not mean anything to you.

On a more relevant note, come to think of it, a lot of choir teachers are jerks who pick on ______ and dote over _____. I wonder why?

I usually just tried to bite through it and try to give them whatever it is they want (homework in on time, practicing my songs) and so on so I could get a good grade and move on. I imagine ti seems like useless advice to you though. The only other thing I can think of is to bring it up to someone else, like a colleague of his, and to ask to remain anonymous so you won't be "the girl who went to his colleague about him."

Threaten the shool with a lawsuit if he dosen't get his act together. There is no excuse for discrimation against females. Get a notebook and everytime he does or says something offensive, write it down along with the date. Get others to do the same. My dad had an a**hole boss and did this and got the dude fired.

I'm with PunkyKat. Disliking certain people is wrong, but if he's systematically targeting one gender that's a whole different matter, and totally stupid might I add. I just hope you don't experience retaliation of any kind.
