I hate it when teachers don't show up and there's no cover work been set up and you always have to spend the next lesson catching up. I mean I understand if the teacher is ill and it can't be helped but surely there is a lesson plan or something.

Like for instance one of my geography teachers has missed quite a few lessons. As we're in year 12 there are no cover teachers and we're basically left to our own devices unless there's some work left. This week my geography teacher hasn't been in at all and there are mocks coming up within the next couple of weeks! I mean we don't have a textbook for the class so it's getting a bit frustrating as I don't wanna fall behind. Not to mention the fact that the class isn't the type who are able to quickly catch up on lessons. :) If this keeps happening I seriously will complain.

Anyways does anyone else have problems due to absent teachers and can share my woes?

I'm in Year 10 and I quite like it when teachers are absent because we don't have to do much work, but then I don't have exams to worry about yet. I can see why you are angry though. Must be really frustrating when you need to get work done but can't. :(

I'm in grade 12 (in grade 11 classes until next semester though) and we usually get a substitute. If there isn't, we usually have a caf period, where I quickly retreat to my resource room to work.

I'm in year 10 too. Infact, my schools been on the news pretty much worldwide recently (within the last year) due to Ofsted etc. ("Worst in Carlisle"? Pfft! I doubt it...). Anyway, I had times where we were outside the class for a full hour. Surprising enough, it never, ever affected my Straight A Grades. The problem for me? The lower classes who were in riot and anyone who refused to learn because "it's a bad school". For me, that took up valuable time that could've been better spent learning.

Long story short, no-one likes it when the teacher never shows but, in my opinion, I find it rather minor and rather major at the same time. At the time, I go full-scale panic almost (I don't express this panic, but I do worry), however, it never seems to cause a drastic effect on me - as my grades always remain either static or improving.
