Short version is I'm friends w/ a guy whose parents both passed away before I met him 
. I've noticed that whenever other people's parents come up he throws in (quietly) that he doesn't have parents anymore... wondering if this means I should refrain from ever mentioning my parents again (I've had some issues w/ them for awhile now)?
