I had to defer my degree in 2007 due to physical illness.....

I was enrolled in a Bachelor of Applied Science with a double major in Forensics/Microbiology. I am fascinated by most things, but since I have had 2 years to contemplate where I am going, I seem to keep leaning towards physics(I have this unnatural  fascination with astrophysics and quantum physics). Now, I struggled with classical physics but did very well in atomic theory and quantum mechanics. I did not do physics in high school, so I had to learn from the beginning, mostly teaching myself as other students were much more advanced. I was also a mature age student when entering University.

I was also terrible at maths in school but excelled in areas like algebra, ratios and probability at Uni. Can't explain the change in ability(strangely, I now do algebra to relax 8) ). I have intense difficulties with focus and concentration(my psych is testing me for ADHD(inattentive type) in March to see if this is the issue.

So, some feedabck on Physics experience would be good. How are you finding or how did you find the work in the degree? was it intensely difficult overall? Very easy? Or difficult in some areas and easier in others?

I have no idea if I can do it(if I have the smarts) but I am very passionate about it and find it very relaxing. My being able to think in pictures also gives me a quiet thrill when contemplating the cosmos and atomic orbitals...... See how I go.

Thanks for helping out.

Hi Mics, nice topic.

I guess, uh, I just posted a kind of sciency topic here and I also like physics. I've done first year Physics before although I had also done physics throughout high school.
I did not find it particularly hard, because I it merely involves logical thinking. Most people in our society do not, however, employ as much logical thinking as that, and perhaps that is the discipline involved.
I'm kind of old and I'm going back to school. Go for it, I say.

Really, all you have to do to finish a degree is fill out the enrolment form and then turn up on the first day .. :D
