Has anyone else had issues with claustrophobia? I am not able to stay in a tiny lecture room, with no windows, for this high level class I am in.Thankfully my professor is very understanding and I have been very vocal with her, but it is certainly not under control.I have seen a counselor but really have not gotten much from that. I frequently get nauseous in the middle of the class, from the lack of air and the feeling of being trapped.

Is it at all possible to sit near the door with the door open?

I can usually handle being in a tight space as long as an immediate escape -- nothing between me and an exit -- is available. But for some reason, possibly short duration, elevators do not bother me.

I have tried sitting by the door but due to noise outside (skateboarders, guitar players, people talking) the door needs to remain closed. I have asked the disabilities center if there is service provided for someone to accompany me to and in class, just to have someone there to reassure me that I won't be trapped. I get so worked up before class that I cannot even enter the room though. One time I nearly threw up,I was so overwhelmed and I have yet to find a solution.
