I was really pissed off going into college, because my dad put me in a special needs job training programme without my consent. I had plans to stay an unemployed flower child, living off the land. I was 18 at the time, and I didn't see all the good things that were in store for me. I wore flowered blouses, tie-dyed T-Shirts and bell bottoms to college until Christmas Break. I even wore sandals sometimes.

And than it happened. I've signed out two records at the library. The Greatest Hits of Mama Cass and that Golden Hours of The Kinks compilation that was an hour's worth of music on each of the two LPs. I went from being a wannabe hippie, to being the CockneyRebel that you all know today in very short order. It turned out I didn't like Mama Cass too much in the end.

I just thought that I would say how a crappy start made me a much more cultured and civilized person in the end. A thread that a father started about his son being in college inspired me to type this. I've wanted to share this since September.

Sure, I was pissed off at my dad the entire summer before I started college and my first few months there, but when I think about what I could have been, I'm glad that I went through with it. I'm sure that you'd all rather know me as CockneyRebel, than Tie-DyedRainbow.
